Notice of Intent to Award - Colorado School of Mines This research will focus on performing chemical and microstructural analysis on fluorinemodified thin film composite reverse osmosis membranes developed and patented by the Bureau of Reclamation.
These characterization data would be compared
to the industry standard DOW FilmTec FT-30 composite membrane as well as data for similar membranes in the technical literature.
The fluorine-modified membrane has gone through some tests already but not to the desired characterization and microstructural analysis of the Colorado School of Mines expertise.
The results of this research will have the ability to provide additional information to a brand new membrane that does not currently exist in the market and that Reclamation has been trying to find uses for to effectively commercialize the technology and finding the appropriate private sector partners to push the technology out of the government labs.
