Prineville Reservoir Recreation Operations & Maintenance

The OPRD has historically maintained and enhance the functional use and longevity of the facilities and equipment, meet public safety needs and standards, and provide appropriate public recreational uses such as:
hiking trails, water use, camping, and fishing.

The OPRD continues to promote

the protection of the fish and wildlife, hiking trails and water ways by incorporating measures to eliminate the spreading of noxious weeds and other pests that are detrimental to the land, agriculture, public health, soil and water conservation of the reservoir.

The OPRD staff will daily operate and maintain Reclamation’s outdoor recreation facilities for the public at Prineville Reservoir.

The resource management plan [lease agreement No.

10-07-10-L1766 between Reclamation and OPRD] will incorporate and guide how the reservoir will be managed and maintained by OPRD.

The operations and maintenance objectives are to:
• monitor, maintain, protect the resource(s) • provide safe clean facilities and access to the recreational areas of the reservoir • provide security to the general public • provide better stewardship of the areas resources through OPRD’s daily presence on the reservoir • added protection and enhancement of facilities • improved communication with the public No substantial involvement on the part of Reclamation is anticipated for the successful completion of the objectives to be funded by this award.

It is anticipated that Reclamation’s involvement will consist of standard federal stewardship responsibilities such as monitoring project performance, technical assistance at the request of the recipient, etc.
