Youth Journalism Development Program

The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U. S. Embassy in Tbilisi, Georgia is pleased to announce an open competition for the Youth Journalism Development Program to train at least 75 high school and college-aged youth in ethnic Azerbaijani and Armenian populated regions of Georgia.

The program

aims to give the youth basic skills in multimedia journalism, media literacy, civic education, English language, and fundamentals of entrepreneurship.

At the end of the program the participants should develop basic journalism production skills, become more inclined and committed to using reliable media sources, and have develop stronger English language skills enabling them to communicate and consume media in English.

The program will lay the groundwork for the participants’ further academic or/and vocational education, employment and engagement with Georgian society at large.

Additional Information of Eligibility:
Eligibility is limited to Georgian educational institutions and non-governmental organizations.

Applicants must have a demonstrated expertise in teaching, conducting workshops and short-term specialized courses in journalism, media literacy, civic education and English language skills.

Applicants should demonstrate ability to work with the youth in ethnic minority regions of Georgia: Samtskhe Javakheti and Kvemo Kartli.

Capability to deliver training in the Azeri and Armenian languages and prior experience of working with the identified target communities will be favorably considered.
