Park Service Funding – Planning Assistance for the Muir Woods Pinchot Tree Area

The National Park Service, within the Department of the Interior has announced funding in the amount of $50,000 to support the initial staged of a project to support Muir Woods Pinchot Tree Area.

The Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy technical assistance to prepare a site plan illustrating improvements to support NPS program and functional uses at the Pinchot Tree Circle in Muir Woods. In collaboration with the standing NPS Muir Woods Geographic Leadership Team, GGNPC will document existing conditions, define project goals, and prepare a range of solutions for improvements to the area that could include extension of the boardwalk, safety railing, furnishings, exhibits, vegetation management, and other features. NPS will review the draft plans and provide direction for GGNPC to prepare a final site plan.

After initial planning the total anticipated award will be $1,300,000.
