The Fish and Wildlife Service, within the Department of the Interior, is making $34,500 available for a proposed study to provide students to continue banding ducks at summer breeding grounds.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Canadian Wildlife Service have had an ongoing duck banding effort In Canada for many years. Numerous ducks are captured and banded at over 20 sites in prairie Canada.
Award recipients will be supervised in the field with regard to data processing by a Service employee, and may have to work with local indigenous population on Indian Reservations.

The Environmental Protection Agency has mad $500,000 in funds available for the Tribal Solid Waste Management Assistance Project.
Proposals can be submitted in any one of the four categories of the Project:
(1) characterization or assessment of open dumps
(2) development of integrated waste management plans and tribal codes and regulations
(3) development and implementation of alternative solid waste management activities/facilities
(4) development and implementation of cleanup, closure, and post-closure programs for open dumps in Indian Country
Each proposal must address only one of the four proposal categories described above.

The Administration on Developmental Disabilities within the Administration for Children and Families is soliciting applications for a $200,000 cooperative agreement to to plan, develop and implement one longitudinal data collection and analysis project relating to supports and services provided to families of individuals with developmental disabilities, including individuals with intellectual disabilities.
The data project shall develop key definitions related to supports and services; collect state level baseline data; create a standard set of key State indicators that can be used to benchmark progress; develop a profile of such supports and services that can be updated and used to track trends; and develop an online data dashboard that could be utilized to track, compare and contrast progress made on achieving outcomes at the National and State levels.

Cooperative Agreement to Facilitate Data Collection for Supporting Families

The Environmental Protection Agency has announced the availability of a $319,000 grant program for Native American tribes to address hazardous waste issues on their lands.
Eligibility is limited to federally-recognized tribes or intertribal consortia. The purpose of the projects is to build capacity for the successful development and implementation of hazardous waste programs in Indian Country.
In accordance with the EPA Indian Policy of 1984, EPA recognizes tribal governments as the primary parties for managing programs for reservations.

The Bureau of Land Management, within the Department of the Interior has allocated $95,000 for grants for providing recreation and travel management services for the Grand Junction Field Office in Colorado.
Recreation and travel management services include development, monitoring and maintenance of trails; education on responsible recreation use; and providing educational and informational materials for recreational and public involvement opportunities.

The emergence of the \’Arab Spring\’ and the transformation of the political landscape across northern Africa and the Middle East present opportunities and challenges for United States in pursuing its interests in the region.
The Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, with in the U.S. State Department, is soliciting proposals from organizations for projects that will promote democracy, human rights and the rule of law in the following region. The countries of interest include: Algeria, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia, West Bank/Gaza, and Yemen.
The areas of specific interest and funding amounts are:
Transitional Justice and Reconciliation for the Middle East and North Africa – approximately $1,200,000
Labor – approximately $2,000,000
Gender Based Violence – approximately $500,000
Protection for Religious Freedoms – approximately $500,000

The Office of Justice Programs within the Department of Justice is funding grants for Demonstration Projects to Establish ‘Zero Tolerance’ Cultures for Sexual Assault Program.
The grants are available to units of state and local governments and federally recognized Indian tribes (as determined by the Secretary of the Interior).
Based on the Department of Justice’s analysis of data compiled by the Bureau of Justice Statistics, approximately 200,000 adult prisoners and jail inmates suffered some form of sexual abuse while incarcerated during 2008.
This suggests 4.4 percent of the prison population and 3.1 percent of the jail population within the United States suffered sexual abuse during that year.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development has made $600,000 for the funding of a Section 3 Coordinator is responsible for assuring that funding recipients comply with the regulatory requirements of Section 3 and that the maximum amounts of economic opportunities are provided to eligible residents and business concerns.
Section 3 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968 is designed to ensure that employment, training, and contracting opportunities generated by the expenditure of certain HUD funds shall be provided to low- and very low-income persons, particularly recipients of government assistance for housing, and to businesses that are either owned by or substantially employ these persons.

Section 3 Program Coordination and Implementation

The goal of the National Integrated Water Quality Program is to contribute to the improvement of the quality of the U.S. surface water and groundwater resources through research, education, and extension activities.
Projects funded through this program will work to solve water resource problems by advancing and disseminating the knowledge base available to agricultural, rural, and urbanizing communities.
Estimated total funding is $10,000,000. The grant providing agency is Department of Agriculture and it\’s office is National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
The program is guided by a unique model for shared leadership which includes representatives from each of 10 regional projects (Environmental Protection Agency, or EPA, regions), representatives from 1890 and 1994 institutions, and the NIFA national program leader for Water Quality. It is called the NIFA Committee for Shared Leadership for Water Quality.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development has announced the availability of $9,100,000 to further advance the implementation of HUD\’s National HIV/AIDS Strategy.
Projects funded under this grant will provide direct housing assistance and service delivery to low income persons and families living with HIV/AIDS, including homeless individuals and families; and implement comprehensive planning and coordination of local resources in meeting housing and service needs of this vulnerable population.
