Well-Integrated Screening and Evaluation for Women Across the Nation

WISEWOMAN is intended to improve the cardiovascular health of low-income, uninsured and under-insured women, ages 40-64, who are participants in the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP).

Supplements to Public Law 101-354 expand the preventive health services provided
through NBCCEDP to: (1) include screenings regarding blood pressure and cholesterol, and health education; (2) provide appropriate referrals for medical treatment of women receiving services pursuant to screenings; (3) ensure, to the extent practicable, the provision of appropriate follow-up services; and (4) evaluate activities conducted under paragraphs (1) and (2) through appropriate surveillance or program-monitoring activities.
