The Health Resources and Services Administration, more commonly referred to as HRSA, is an agency operating within the United States Department of Health and Human Services that is greatly answerable for improving the public's access to quality health care services.
The programs and grants of the HRSA are all geared towards the achievement of its general agency mission which is to "improve health and achieve health equity through access to quality services, a skilled health workforce and innovative programs."
In keeping with this mission, the Health Resources and Services Administration has recently established the Rural Health Research Center (RHRC) Cooperative Agreement Program in an attempt to substantially improve the amount of high-quality, impartial, policy-relevant research studies.
The HRSA believes that an increase in these research studies will assist decision-makers at the federal, state, and local level during the complex process of fully comprehending the concerns of rural communities while simultaneously providing essential information that will improve the public's access to health care and population health.
