Center of Excellence in Climate Measurements (CECM) Program

NIST seeks applications from eligible applicants for the creation of an interdisciplinary Center of Excellence in Climate Measurements that coordinates activities to advance efforts to establish national standardization of methods and metrics for forecasting consequences of climate trends at scales important


to communities across multiple geographies and over time.

The Center will carry out research and will act as a convener and leader in this field of research by collaborating with NIST and other stakeholders to develop standard practices, methodologies, and tools that will assist communities in making quantitative predictions of climate-related effects on their communities.

Additional Information of Eligibility:
Eligibility for the program listed in this NOFO is open to all non-Federal entities.

Eligible applicants include: accredited institutions of higher education; non-profit organizations; commercial organizations incorporated in the United States; and State, Local, Territorial, and Indian Tribal Governments.

Applicants must be physically located in a U. S. State or U. S. Territory with existing requirements to reduce greenhouse gases and track climate effects.

The applicant must have documented, established partnerships with national climate offices, as well as with an established State or Territorial Climate Office within the applicant’s State or Territory.

The applicant must have documented experience conducting comprehensive State or Territory climate assessments.
