Request for Statement of Interest (SOI) for American Spaces USG Alumni Engagement Program facilitator

The Public Diplomacy section at the U. S. Embassy in Zimbabwe announces an open competition for individuals to submit a statement of interest (SOI) to carry out carry out American Spaces USG Alumni Engagement Programs to strengthen the U.S.-government Public Diplomacy exchange program alumni network


and expand collaboration and networking opportunities for this dynamic community.

These programs will strengthen the support structure for alumni in their attempts to launch projects and expand networking opportunities that build on their alumni experiences.

Please carefully follow all instructions below.

The submission of the SOI is the first step in a two-step process.

Applicants must first submit a concise 1 – 2 page statement of interest designed to clearly communicate program idea and objectives.

This is not a full proposal.

The purpose of the SOI process is to allow applicants to submit program ideas for evaluation prior to requiring the development of a full proposal application.

Upon a merit review of eligible SOIs, selected applicants will be invited to expand on their program idea(s) by submitting a full proposal application.

Full proposals will go through a second merit review before final funding decision are made.

Program Objectives:
Funding will support Alumni Engagement programs that strengthen the alumni network to facilitate expanded networking and funding opportunities; promote alumni success stories and encourage cross-program community collaboration.

The USG Alumni Engagement Facilitator will be responsible for coordinating regional Alumni meetings at the American Spaces in Bulawayo and Gweru, and additional locations in Mutare.

In consultation with the PD section, the Alumni Engagement Facilitator will track alumni progress and community success stories through regular communications and social media engagement and prepare reports for promotion both withing the Alumni community and on U. S. Embassy social media platforms.

The Alumni Engagement Facilitator will convene monthly meetings (a combination of virtual and in person) working American Spaces staff in the field and alumni to develop networking opportunities; collaboration plans that support projects building on their alumni experiences.

After each gathering, the Alumni Engagement Facilitator will conduct participant assessments and draft an aggregate monthly report highlighted alumni success stories, new collaboration and program ideas and emerging interests for the alumni community on a template provide by the PD section.

The ideal individual should possess the following attributes:
- Must be an alumni of U.S.-government funding Public Diplomacy programs, - 3 – 5 years’ experience in facilitating workshops and programs - Excellent oral and written communication skills, - Demonstrates experience working with youth - Flexibility with providing evening workshops and virtual programs, - Able to work with minimum supervision, and - Strong analytical report writing skills.

Participants and Audiences:
- Alumni of U.S-government funding Public Diplomacy exchange programs.
