State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) Base Grant

The Administration for Community Living (ACL) is pleased to release the 2016 State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) Base Grant Funding Opportunity Announcement.

The SHIP was created by Congress in 1990 to provide education and assistance to Medicare-eligible individuals, their families

and caregivers to assist in making informed health insurance decisions.

There are currently 54 active SHIP grants; one in every state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U. S. Virgin Islands.

The funds awarded through this application are for the FY 2016 budget period, April 1, 2016 – March 31, 201 7. Eligible applicants are states and United States territories that demonstrate their ability to provide the program through the state office of insurance, the state Medicaid office, or the department on aging.
