Annual Program Statement (APS)

USAU PD invites proposals for projects that strengthen ties between the United States and the African Union by highlighting shared values and promoting cooperation.

Grant proposals must convey an American cultural element, support a priority program area (see below), or include a connection with


American expert(s), organization(s), or institution(s) in a specific field that will promote increased understanding of U. S. policy and perspectives.

Proposals should also demonstrate how programs will make America safer, stronger and more prosperous.

An institution of higher education or other nonprofit or for-profit organization with demonstrated expertise in the development of evidence-based approaches with the potential to improve the quality of American history, civics and government, or geography learning and teaching.Note: If multiple eligible entities wish to form a consortium and jointly submit a single application, they must follow the procedures for group applications described in 34 CFR 75.127 through 34 CFR 75.129.
