Empowering Women Journalists in Pakistan

The Public Affairs Section of the U. S. Consulate General Karachi (PAS Karachi) is pleased to announce an open competition for assistance award through this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO).

The project set forth in this NOFO will increase the number of qualified women journalists and reporters

in Sindh and Balochistan through professional training and the creation of a formal support network for women journalists.

This two-year grant will build the capacity of entry-level journalists; strengthen mid-level capacity in ethical journalism, countering disinformation, and countering workplace harassment; train women in entrepreneurship to support independent reporting and income generation; and create a strong community of women media professionals through quarterly networking opportunities with U. S. and Pakistani journalists.

The project will culminate in a conference in Karachi for all program participants.

PAS Karachi invites all eligible organizations (see Eligibility Information, Section C) to submit proposals for an award to provide training to women journalists through the program specified in this NOFO.

Programs will take place in various locations in Sindh and Balochistan provinces of Pakistan, but mainly Karachi, Sukkur, Quetta, Gwadar, and as specified by PAS Karachi.

This award will be contingent on funding availability.
