Preserving Afghanistan’s Diverse Cultural Heritage

The Public Diplomacy Section (PDS) of the U. S. Mission Afghanistan is pleased to announce an open competition for eligible organizations to submit applications to carry out a project that assists in the preservation of Afghanistan’s diverse cultural heritage and brings attention to the cultural

traditions that are shared among people in Afghanistan irrespective of linguistic or ethnic distinctions.PDS seeks proposals that address the preservation of intangible or tangible heritage traditions that are recognized and resonate across Afghanistan’s diverse populace.

Project ideas can include cultural heritage that is defined as either intangible (such as traditional crafts, and musical traditions, literary traditions), or tangible heritage (such as conservation and restoration of monuments, sites, and artifacts).

The proposal also should increase public awareness of the rich cultural diversity that defines Afghanistan’s unique cultural patrimony, promoting civic responsibility to protect and preserve the rights of all their citizens and strive for inclusive, unified communities that recognize diversity.
