Women In Need Obtains $500,000 State Grant

The Women In Need shelter and advocacy center for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault has been provided a $500,000 state grant to continue its advocacy of helping women and children through its new $3.5 million facility.


The money was awarded through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, which funds regional economic, cultural, civic and historical improvement projects under the Governor's Office of the Budget.

Hampton Creek Foods, a business startup headquartered in San Francisco, has received numerous support, including those from Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Paypal co-founder Peter Thiel, and Khosla Ventures, a venture capital fund established by Sun Microsystems co-founder Vinod Khosla, to fund its efforts of searching for plant substitutes for eggs.
