The Cherokee Nation Economic Development Trust Authority of Tahlequah, OK, is a certified CDFI established in 1999. The Cherokee Nation Economic Development Trust Authority administers six revolving loan programs that provide consumer and commercial loans. The Trust Authority also provides technical assistance credit counseling, loan packaging and workshops on topics such as: financing, marketing, record keeping, accounting, contracting, taxes, franchising, and insurance, along with a 12-week in-depth and individualized entrepreneur training program. Both the lending and development services are provided through the Cherokee Nation Small Business Assistance Center and target tribal members within the fourteen county jurisdictional territories of the Cherokee Nation in northeastern Oklahoma.

NA (2008) - $643,827

The Cherokee Nation Economic Development Trust Authority is a certified Native CDFI established in 1989. The CDFI provides access to consumer/commercial financing, facilitates entrepreneurial development through training/technical assistance, and promotes family self-sufficiency through budget counseling. The organization provides services to the Cherokee citizens and American Indians living in fourteen northeastern Oklahoma counties. It will use the 2008 NACA FA award as lending capital and the TA grant to 1) hire staff, 2) attending training, 3) purchase development services curriculums, and 4) procure contracting services. The CDFI was awarded $643,827 ($500,000 Financial Assistance - $143,827 Technical Assistance).



NACA (2005) - $40,880

The Cherokee Nation Economic Development Trust Authority will use the 2005 Native American CDFI Assistance (NACA) technical assistance grant of $40,880 to (1) pay for staff training in commercial lending, real estate documentation, financial analysis and collections; (2) to cover staff salary to conduct a market needs assessment; (3) purchase computer hardware and business management and marketing software technology; and (4) to support its operating costs.
