Partnering with Regional Institutes to Strengthen Essential Public Health Functions in Vietnam

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to strengthen capabilities of four Regional Institutes of Vietnam to execute essential public health functions.

This FOA aligns with and supports Global Health Security, Global Health Initiative[1] and PEPFAR sustainability and country

ownership[2] continuum investments in public health systems, health policies, and public health workforce development.

Key components include (A) support for Global Health Security Agenda focus areas, including preventing avoidable epidemics, early detection of threats, and rapid and effective response; and (B) support for HIV/AIDS, flu, and other priority disease control programs; and (C) support for departments performing cross-cutting public health functions at the regional institutes through technical assistance.

Activities supported through this FOA will enhance the capacity of regional institutes to assess and assure the health of the people of Vietnam through the provision of essential public health services.

William D. Eggers and Paul Macmillan of Dowser write about the social entrepreneurs slowly and steadily dirsupting the world of philanthropy. According to Forbes, philanthropy disruptors are those that believe “no one company is so vital that it can’t be replaced and no single business model too perfect to upend.”
