Its loans will be highly targeted geographically, focused on remote rural communities that are suffering from long-term structural unemployment at least 1.5 times the national average and poverty rates greater than 30%. Ecotrust will structure loans with an interest rate as low as 1%, with an additional return in the form of a participation in profits from business activities.
