Incorporated in 1995, Newcorp, Inc. (d.b.a. Newcorp Business Assistance Center) promotes economic development in distressed communities of New Orleans through financial and technical support of small and emerging businesses.

CDFI Awards for NEWCORP Business Assistance Center


TA (2006) - $100,000

NewCorp Inc. is a certified CDFI established in 1998 to provide small business loans, technical assistance, and access to business opportunities for micro, small and emerging business clients across its 9-parish New Orleans metropolitan area. NewCorp Inc. will use the 2006 TA grant of $100,000 to 1) obtain services to perform a post-Katrina market study; 2) engage portfolio recovery assessment services; 3) pay for staff training in community development lending; 4) cover operating epenses for staff to be replaced due to displacement as a result of Hurricane Katrina and 5) relocate offices and purchase computer hardware and other materials and equipment destroyed by Hurrican Katrina.



TA (2004) - $20,000

Newcorp, Inc. will use the award to conduct a market analysis and impact evaluation; perform a loan systems review; and obtain technology upgrades and staff training.

FA (2004) - $280,000

NewCorp Business Resource Center (NBRC) will use the award to capitalize a loan program specifically aimed at "entrepreneurs and small businesses located on commercial corridors which have experienced blight and decay over the past 10 to 20 years due to out-migration. The products will specifically support borrowers seeking to upgrade building facades, to renovate buildings, and to receive technical assistance.

Small Business Administration's Loan Guarantees Program

The Small Business Administration has established the Loan Guarantees Program wherein they aim to be able to provide guaranteed loans to small business establishments which are not capable of acquiring financing from a private credit marketplace but greatly manifests the ability to repay funds in a timely manner.







Secondary Market Lending Authority Program

The Small Business Administration has constituted the Secondary Market Lending Authority program, one which aims to provide liquidity for the secondary market, thereby ultimately encouraging new lending opportunities from banks of Small Business Administration guaranteed loans.
