Mountain Microenterprise Loan Fund (MMLF) is a certified CDFI that was established in 2002 and provides financing and technical assistance to small businesses in Western North Carolina"s Southern Appalachian region.

FA (2008) - $567,187

Mountain BizCapital (formerly Mountain Microenterprise Loan Fund) is a certified CDFI in Western North Carolina that was established in 2003 It provides small business loans up to $35,000, and through its affiliate, Mountain BizWorks, provides business instruction and on-going technical support for low-income entrepreneurs in the twelve western-most counties of North Carolina Mountain BizCapital will use the 2008 Financial Assistance award of $470,000 as lending capital and the 2008 Technical Assistance grant of $97,187 for: 1) staff salary; and 2) computers and other essential technology.



FA (2005) - $248,150

The $1,398,750 FA award will be used to provide homeownership loans in North Carolina and in the metropolitan Washington DC area where Self-Help opened a new office in 2003. The award is expected to leverage additional funds resulting in $20 million in additional lending capital. Self-Help"s mortgage loans offer an affordable alternative to the predatory mortgages that often create great financial difficulties for elderly and low-income borrowers.



TA (2004) - $52,580

Mountain Microenterprise Loan Fund (MMLF) will use the award to: obtain consulting services to develop a market analysis, business plan, lending and portfolio policies, a capitalization plan, and a marketing plan; obtain staff and board training in lending and CDFI design and operation; and for computer technology for its staff.
