Founded in 1986, Homewise Inc. has served an 8 county area of northern New Mexico. Homewise targets low income populations with products and services that allow and ecourage home ownership by these families. They provide Homebuyer Assistance loans, Home Repair loans, Homebuyer workshops, Counseling related to home buying and personal finance, and they have participated in the development and construction of affordable homes. Homewise has assisted more than1,500 people build, buy, or repair their homes. They have served more than 3,000 people through training and counseling, and they have built 150 homes.

CDFI Awards for Homewise, Inc.


FA (2008) - $1,052,275

Homewise, Inc. is a certified CDFI established in 1986. Homewise provides home mortgage loans, counseling, and training to an eight-county target market in Northern New Mexico. Homewise will use the FY08 Financial Assistance award of $1,000,000 as lending capital for its employer-assisted mortgage product and its FY08 Technical Assistance grant of $52,275 to improve outreach capabilities by hiring a part-time outreach coordinator and updating its customer tracking software.



FA (2005) - $513,000

The $513,000 financial assistance award will be used to support their HomeSmart Homebuyer mortgage. The mortgage complements their other products and helps reduce operating costs by financing the installation of water and energy saving technologies in the home.



TA (2004) - $50,000

Homewise Inc. will use the award to upgrade its administrative support systems, in order to increase outreach and support services to low income families in New Mexico.
