Wisconsin Women"s Business Initiative Corporation (WWBIC) provides access to capital, business education and business assistance for entrepreneurs throughout Wisconsin with a focus on women, minorities and low-income individuals.

FA (2008) - $1,100,000

Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation (WWBIC) is a certified CDFI that was incoroporated in 1987. WWBIC provides microenterprise and business financing and development services to low-income communities in Milwaukee and low-income persons throughout the state of Wisconsin. It will use its FY08 Financial Assistance award of $1,000,000 to expand its operations and increase the size of its loan pool. The FY08 Technical Assistance grant of $100,000 will be used to cover the initial salaries and equipment for three new staff persons: a full time lending officer; a full time credit officer; and a part time loan processor.



FA (2004) - $400,500

Wisconsin Women"s Business Initiative Corporation will use the award to increase the number and dollar volume of its microloans to Hot Zones, Investment Areas, Low-Income Targeted Populations, African Americans, Hispanics, and women microenterprises in Wisconsin. The technical assistance award will assist the organization in upgrading its electronic communication systems between its Milwaukee and Madison offices, consulting for a market needs assessment, and training for staff.



CORE (2001) - $638,000

With the Fund"s grant of $600,000 and technical assistance of $38,000 WWBIC expects to increase its dollar and number of loans to its target populations, and address the needs of childcare businesses across the state.



SECA (1999) - $40,000

The technical assistance award will be used for consulting and technology-related capacity needs.



CORE (1998) - $330,000

The CDFI Fund"s $300,000 capital grant and $30,000 technical assistance grant will help WWBIC expand its lending and will enable its staff to obtain additional training on community development lending, portfolio monitoring and other issues. WWBIC will also work with other CDFIs to enhance its strategies for assessing its impact on its customers.
