Economic Community Development Institute (ECDI) was incorporated in June 2004 as a spin-off of the business development and asset development programs of Jewish Family Services in Columbus, Ohio. ECDI runs one of the largest IDA programs in the U.S., provides financial education training to over 1000 entrepreneurs, and has a large microenterprise loan fund. Its focus has been on the immigrant and refugee community, and the TA award will allow it to expand its market to include other low-income individuals in the greater Columbus area.

FA (2008) - $481,299

Economic and Community Development Institute (ECDI) is a nonprofit loan fund in operation since 2004. ECDI is a Certified CDFI serving central Ohio, primarily the City of Columbus and Franklin County. It provides microloans to low-income persons, primarily refugees and immigrants. ECDI will use the FY08 Financial Assistance award of $406,000 to expand its operations across central Ohio, improve its financial management capacity, and provide enhanced development services to the target market. The FY08 Technical Assistance grant of $75,299 will support personnel salary, fringe benefits, professional services, and equipment to build capacity in order to expand services to its target market.



TA (2005) - $47,000

ECDI will use the $47,000 technical assistance grant to obtain consulting services to (1) perform an assessment of the new market; and (2) develop an integrated database that will enable ECDI to improve its management of its operational and programmatic activities. The remaining technical assistance funds will be used to develop new outreach materials.
