Established in 1989, Neighborhood Housing Services of San Antonio (NHS of San Antonio) is a non-profit organization that promotes homeownership and neighborhood revitalization through mortgage lending, homebuyer education and affordable housing development. NHS of San Antonioa€™s target market includes inner city San Antonio and surrounding rural areas. A large proportion of its clients are low-income families whose incomes are under 60% of the area median family income.

Neighborhood Housing Services of San Antonio, Inc (NHS) is a certified CDFI established in 1989 NHS provides first and second mortgage lending, special down payment assistance programs, new construction and land development, and pre- and post-purchase home buyer counseling NHS will use the FY08 Financial Assistance award of $1,000,000 to expand the organization"s revolving loan fund and loan loss reserves NHS will use the FY08 Technical Assistance grant of $82,797 to: 1) hire a marketing specialist to expand outreach; 2) conduct board member training; 3) conduct a market study and create an updated marketing strategy; and 4) improve web-based technology such as the organization"s website, home search database, and online homebuyer education course.



SECA (2000) - $50,000

The technical assistance award will be used to acquire consulting services to develop a market analysis and strategy, technology to facilitate higher volume of home mortgage lending, and staff training.

CORE (2000) - $1,000,000

The CDFI Fund"s $1,000,000 capital grant will help NHS of San Antonio meet the growing demand for its existing mortgage lending products, introduce new mortgage products and expand its staff.
