The program is intended to perform research on the energetics, food habits and physiology of captive grizzly bears that can be applied to recovery efforts for the species.

The Asian Elephant Conservation Fund is soliciting project proposals for the conservation of the Asian elephant throughout its range.

In 1997, with recent awareness of the increasing threat to the welfare of the already endangered Asian elephant the Asian Elephant Conservation Act was signed into law.

The awards range from under $100K per year for focused, limited efforts (e.g., data analysis) to more than $1M per year for extensive activities (e.g., development of science experiment hardware).
