Austin Gardens Receives $400,000 State Grant for Learning Center

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources matched the funds for the revitalization of Austin Gardens in Oak Park through a $400,000 Open Space Land Acquisition and Development grant.


An environmental learning center will be constructed to hold various kids' activities such as day camps, community events, environmental learning programs and a "discovery garden". The center will have energy-conserving systems like a green roof and use of natural light.
